“Knowing what to ask or who to ask or even where to look up information is very helpful for a patient.
The last test results for a patient that came in confirmed what they already suspected. The first three medications they had been given over the months and years were inappropriate for them to take. This person’s phenotype required a 50 percent reduction in the normal doses that were given.
No one tested them before this, thus leading to adverse drug reactions and discontinuing of therapy. After the test, a different medicine was confirmed to be more appropriate for their genetic metabolizers ability to process correctly.
It is both rewarding and sad to see the results and the confirmation people receive and ask, “Why is this not offered to everyone”?
