New Genetics Test Can Help Avoid Adverse Drug Reactions

A genetics company is now offering at-home pharmacogenetics tests, a new testing program that uses a person’s genetic profile to help identify the medications that will work best for him or her, while avoiding possible adverse drug reactions.

“Until recently, drugs have been prescribed hoping that each drug works pretty much the same in everybody, but knowing they don’t,” said David Olshanky, VP of Marketing for DTC Genetics. “Pharmacogenetics information challenges this one-size-fits-all approach and opens the door to more personalized approaches to prescribing and using medication.”
